About the Author

KATHY A. ZAHLER is a widely published author and textbook writer. She is the author of McGraw-Hill’s MAT and McGraw-Hill’s Conquering the New GRE Verbal and Writing.

Series: Mcgraw Hill’s 5 Teas Practice TestsPaperback: 352 pagesPublisher: McGraw-Hill Education; 2 edition (April 15, 2014)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 007182572XISBN-13: 978-0071825726 Product Dimensions: 8.5 x 0.6 x 10.8 inches Shipping Weight: 1.3 pounds (View shipping rates and policies) Best Sellers Rank: #6,253 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #11 in Books > Education & Teaching > Higher & Continuing Education > Test Preparation > Professional > Professional #27 in Books > Education & Teaching > Higher & Continuing Education > Test Preparation > Professional > Medical #27 in Books > Textbooks > Medicine & Health Sciences > Test Preparation & Review

I also have the official study guide and these practice tests seem a lot easier than the ones in the official study guide. However, they’re still good for overall practice. Be on the watch for errors in the Kindle version. On practice test 3, the first math question is 4 and 2/3 X 6 and 1/2 and none of the choices are the correct answer. Turns out, it’s a typo and should’ve been an addition question but it’s frustrating trying to double and triple check to make sure you didn’t do anything wrong.

Format is great, easy to use, and good explanations of the answers for the most part. The questions here are a good way to review basic material; however, none of the practice tests prepared me for the actual exam. Not sure if I just got a much harder version of the test but the questions in the book can’t compare in terms of level of difficulty. I did like the book and don’t have anything bad to say about it except that it was WAY too easy and didn’t prepare me well.

I don’t know if anyone else who bought this book noticed that it’s full of errors and missing pieces! Every single graph in this book is missing some part to it, making you feel stupid trying to figure out the answer when the graph or map is contains incomplete items

Fishing for Dummies Kindle Edition PDF

Fishing for Dummies Kindle Edition

This "Fishing for Dummies: Second Edition" book is an outstanding reference for anyone interested in taking up fishing. It’s no substitute for an experienced guide, but you would get much more out of one if you have the prerequisite knowledge provided in this book.

The authors cover rods, reels and tackle which will save an inexperienced fisherman a whole lot of trouble when gearing up for that first trip – if you’re the guy with a casting rod and a spinning reel you’ll know why your bait keeps breaking off when casting. You’ll discover the general lay of the aquatic land along with the accompanying sensible fish congregation theories as well. Overall the book is quite useful.

There’s a nice, practical section on some useful knots, although I think the illustration for figure 15-5b is incorrect (over and under should be reversed), and may luck be with anyone trying to figure out what’s happening with the surgeon’s knot.

There is a "Fly Fishing for Dummies" book that expands on the subject more than what’s covered here, but I do not understand the point in explaining the number of different flies without accompanying illustrations. We’re supposed to be "dummies" (to the subject) after all, and I retained nothing useful from the ones I read word-for-word except for those with illustration. If you’re going to eat up the reader’s time with fly descriptions, then simply add images of them as well to make them useful.

The fishing techniques, cleaning procedures and preparation methods for the catch you intend to keep round the book out nicely. I probably would enjoy a section with a general summary on the time of year which is best for catching a few species of fish in certain regions.
Everyone laughs when they see me with this book. My friends and family all know my fondness for fishing, as well as the fact that I’m far from stupid in regards to fishing or anything else. However, putting the title aside, this is a fantastic book for those, like me, who are not completely stupid, but not exactly the wiliest of fishermen either.

It covers just about everything in regards to fishing, from the basics to more advanced information. More importantly, it includes the "why" things are done the way they are.

I’ve fished six or seven states, in three distinct areas of the country, and each time I move, it’s like starting to learn the process all over again. Believe me, fishing for white trout on the Gulf Coast is NOTHING like fishing for rainbow trout in mountain streams of the West!

Whether you are a serious fisherman or someone who just wants to be an efficient fisherman on your summer vacation, this book has information for you. It helps you understand why things work…or don’t work, why you like certain types of tackle (or don’t like them) and what kinds of tactics will work in what circumstances. It’s great information to drag along for lazy summer afternoons in the hammock, armchair reading as the snow falls outside and you are dreaming of summer…or even while you are waiting for that elusive bite on your pole. I loved the book, and highly recommend it.

Some of the other reviews indicate its good for "women or novice fishermen" but it’s hardly that narrow of a field that this book would assist them in understanding who, what, where, and how–often explaining in very clear terms exactly why something is an effective choice, even if the experienced fisherman doesn’t know why they do (or don’t do) something.

Stories in Stone Kindle Edition
Author: Visit ‘s Douglas Keister Page ID: B005Z60P0E

Stories in Stone The Complete Illustrated Guide to Cemetery Symbolism The language of symbols is one that has been with us from the beginning of recorded history. Our everyday life is full of symbols. We see many of them when we are driving: arrows point us in the right direction, upside-down pyramids tell us of slow-moving vehicles, and octagons caution us to stop. There are multitudes of business symbols we encounter everyday: a stylized pair of golden arches indicates there’s a McDonald’s restaurant located nearby; a checkmark called a “swoosh” subtly informs that its owner is wearing a Nike product; a polychrome apple with a bite taken out of it whimsically announces that its product is an Apple computer; a storefront displaying a symbol of three balls shows that its business is a pawn shop. The meaning of most symbols has remained fairly consistent through the centuries: crosses for Christians, six-pointed stars for Jews, the yin-yang symbol for Buddhists-and hearts speak of love, lambs of innocence, and circles of completeness and immortality. But, nowhere is the language of symbols more apparent than in cemeteries. Dead men may tell no tales, but their tombstones do. Besides informing us of people’s names and dates of birth and death, tombstones often tell us what religion they affilated with, what ethnicity they descended from, what clubs and organizations they belonged to, what occupations they worked in, and what thoughts they held on the afterlife. Journey with us now into the little-known world of cemeteries. The author provides fascinating information and stunning full-color and black-and-white images of funerary architecture designed for eternal life, from mausoleums, chapels, and offices, to tombs, sculptures, and memorials. He then draws us into the very personal area of stone relics designed especially for the deceased, from likenesses of plants, animals, mankind, and mortality, to icons of religion, societies, clubs, and final impressions of how the occupant wanted to be remembered.
Chico, California-based photographer Douglas Keister has photographed twenty-two award-winning, critically acclaimed books. His seventeen books on architecture include four books on Victorian homes (Daughter’s of Painted Ladies, Painted Ladies Revisited, America’s Painted Ladies and Victorian Glory); three books on bungalow homes (The Bungalow, Inside the Bungalow and Outside the Bungalow), a book on 1920s whimsical homes (Storybook Style) a book about cemetery art and architecture (Going Out in Style), a book on Spanish architecture, (Red Tile Style), six books on bungalow details and Classic Cottages, that will be published by Gibbs Smith Publisher in the Spring of 2004. Keister photographed and wrote an award winning children’s book (Fernando’s Gift), has two monographs of his personal work (Black Rock and Driftwood Whimsy), a book on classic travel trailers, (Ready to Roll) and a book on cemetery symbolism, Stories in Stone: The Complete Illustrated Guide to Cemetery Symbolism, that will be published by Gibbs Smith Publisher in the Spring of 2004. His wealth of books on architecture has earned him the title, “America’s most noted photographer of historic architecture.”

It’s been said that a person has one chance to make a first impression. Conversely, one only has one chance to make a last impression, and where better to make that impression than the cemetery, where your statement has the best chance for longevity? ~ Douglas Keister

Since I was very young, graveyards have always fascinated me. I love the look of graveyards at night, although I’ve yet to venture into them in the middle of the night. I live vicariously through the Buffy show as I watch the DVDs. While watching the Buffy show I became rather interested in the symbolism of various statues and objects.

Now, with all the seriousness of death in our society, you would not expect to find humor in a book about gravestones and iconography, but it is definitely present in the most witty fashion. I have rarely found a book that made me laugh out loud as many times and at such surprising times. Douglas Keister has a wicked sense of wit and in the midst of decoding a certain symbol or discussing history he will bring in an ironic twist that is shockingly amusing. He also explains the real meaning of "skeleton in the closet" and explained the uses of exploding torpedo coffins. Who knew. He has taken high-quality photographs which not only set the mood for this book, they help to emphasize the details being discussed.

On a more serious note, Stories in Stone is essential for gravestone scholars and cemetery sleuths. Suddenly you will view graveyards with a new appreciation.

Douglas Keister discusses Classic, Egyptian, Islamic, Byzantine, Romanesque, Gothic, Italian Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical architecture. Through pictures and in depth research, he explains the oldest burial monuments and why a tumulus is mostly found in Western Europe.

I am totally against the 2 star review listed By chiefshwin. I just took the histo shelf and this card hits lots of high yield clinical concepts.
This flash card set is for last minutes study.

You should never substitute flash cards for real-time study. If you need THE BEST pic to study for histo, you should get wheater histology. This book will fulfill "knowing what each cell looks like and what its function is".

Also, if "these cards basically take a BRS book and put them on flash cards,", then this flash card is much worth of buying because of cheaper price.
how can anyone expect the quality of this flashcard ($35) to be as good as that of wheater histology ($70)?

If flash cards are as thick as a book, then it should not be called "flash cards", instead, a book.

Lastly, the reviewer also mentioned that " the cards are very easy to bend and the cards also stick together and move too much.", what kind of comment is this to be related to the quality content of the flash card? No one can "protect" the tearing and wearing of a book or flash cards when you use them all the time.

I bought these cards to help me studies for my histology studies as a first year medical student. When I think of histology, I think of pictures. Learning from pictures, knowing what each cell looks like and what its function is. These cards are not helpful for that. These cards do have a good amount of information on it and they are great for reviewing all the information one needs to know for a written test, but not a practical or laboratory test.

If anyone is familiar with the Board Review Series (BRS), these cards basically take a BRS book and put them on flash cards.

For me, it is hard for me to find different cell types and distinguish them so I was hoping that they would have alot more slides and color pictures indicating what different cells look like and what to look for on those. Also alot of the information on the cards, I feel is not things needed for the board exam nor stressed in my classes.

Another major qualm about this product is that for the price of $35 dollars, I was expecting the cards to be on good quality paper. Like thick notecards; however this is not the case. The cards are almost printed on paper that is the quality of normal printing paper. They are much thinner than the Oxford Index cards I use. This means that the cards are very easy to bend and the cards also stick togther and move too much.

Overall, I would recommend you look for some other product to review and study histology with.

I loved these. Used for my microbiology class!

Barron’s SAT Flash Cards, 2nd Edition 2nd Edition Epub Free

Barron’s SAT Flash Cards, 2nd Edition 2nd Edition
Author: Sharon Weiner Green M.A. ID: 1438070381

Cards: 500 pagesPublisher: Barron’s Educational Series; 2 edition (August 1, 2011)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 1438070381ISBN-13: 978-1438070384 Product Dimensions: 3.2 x 3.8 x 4.5 inches Shipping Weight: 1.8 pounds (View shipping rates and policies) Best Sellers Rank: #20,032 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #20 in Books > education & Teaching > Studying & Workbooks > Flash Cards #47 in Books > Education & Teaching > Higher & Continuing Education > Test Preparation > SAT #175 in Books > Education & Teaching > Test Preparation > College & High School

These laminated cards are 3" x 4.5" and have SAT vocabulary words, writing tips and math facts and strategies. It’s a lot to absorb, so I thought that even with the SATs more than a year away for my son, I’d get him started. I put one card on the table each morning (and turn it around the next day… there are two facts per card) for him to look at while he’s having breakfast. Seems to be working out okay. At first, I thought the vocabulary section seemed slight, but I’ve realized that the concept clues and definitions include even more vocabulary words, so it’s a good system. A friend of mine put the cards on the ring that’s included and has the pack in the car for her kids to look at while driving from place to place. Hey, if your kid’s score can be improved for just a few bucks, why not?!?

Bought this to review for my SAT next year. This will cover all the necessary vocabs that you need to know to do great on the SAT. I bought this because I know very little words and often have trouble reading 11th grade level books or poems, mostly because I’m an English Learner. Buying this I feel more confident doing the SAT bluebook. I’ve only went through about 100 words, and I’m feeling alot more confident. Before buying this, I literally couldn’t even guess on the vocab portions of the SAT. Now I can do about half and guess correctly about 25% of the time. What I like is alot of the synonyms are SAT vocabs themselves. The sentences are pretty good. Some of the cards have wrong, or just weird definitions though. The context in the sample sentence is correct, but the definition is wrong, or just off. I went through 100 of them, and I experienced this problem about 7 times, so thats why i didnt give it 5 stars.

The words and definitions are great. The cards are thin and are not the quality I expected from Barron’s. I would still recommend, just realize that if you try to throw these in a backpack or purse they will get bent and tear easily.
